Halton Region staff moved into
their new Operations Centre in early spring 2002. The 62,000 square
foot building is located immediately north of the Regions
Headquarters building on Bronte Road in Oakville.
TSH provided all consulting architectural and engineering
services from both the Whitby and Waterloo offices. Extensive
site development work was required to tame the rugged 6.0 Hectare
property. Site works included the construction of a storm water
management pond controlling both storm water volume and quality
entering nearby creeks.
The Public Works portion of the building accommodates
Fleet maintenance (Public Works, Ambulance and Police vehicles
are serviced here), stores and shop areas for various departments.
The building also provides space for the Regions
Land Ambulance Headquarters and an Ambulance Station.
The building also accommodates administrative offices,
staff lunchroom and lockers. Being so close to the Regions
Administrative Headquarters building provided the opportunity
to construct meeting rooms, training rooms and a board room for
use by Region staff from all departments.
