TSH employee is one of only five speakers invited to present at this year’s Canadian Society of Landscape Architect’s Congress, and will present the following:

Skiing, Skating and Storm Watching – Making Winter Places
Michael Hubicki, M. L. Arch.

Michael Hubicki will relate his experience and share his insights in the planning, design and construction of 3 interesting projects that are creating places to experience winter. The three projects include a ski a resort village in mountains of Morocco, an outdoor ice rink in Cobourg, Ontario and a 160 m long pedestrian pier in Lake Ontario at Burlington, Ontario. Mike will discuss the challenges of creating each place and the strategies that the landscape architectural team developed to create sustainable winter landscapes and opportunities to encourage public animation and interaction.

Mike has practiced landscape architecture since graduating from the University of Manitoba’s MLA program in 1987. He is a senior shareholder at TSH Associates and the Manager of the Landscape Architecture Department. In 2002, Mike committed to reducing his ecological footprint and built a healthy home for which he received the 2005 Canada’s Energy Efficiency Award for New Homes. He also received the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects 2005 Carl Borgstrom Award for Service to the Environment. Mike is continuously striving to integrate sustainability and winter functions into TSH projects.
