TSH awarded design assignment for new UPS facility in Calgary
Following the design of the expansion of the UPS Canada Toronto Hub, which is now under construction, TSH has been awarded the design assignment for UPS’s new Calgary Consolidated Facility. This new sorting building is located immediately adjacent to the Calgary Airport and is used for the transfer of packages between local delivery vehicles and UPS cargo airplanes. The building is 150,000 square feet in size.
TSH will provide project management services, preliminary design and structural, mechanical and electrical design services. TSH will be assisted by Calgary partners, Riddell Kurczaba Architects and D.A. Watt Consulting for civil engineering services. UPS will provide the process design. Challenges of the project include locating the building so it does not interfere with sightlines from a nearby airport control tower to the taxiway that is adjacent to the UPS facility.
Construction is expected to commence May 2008. |
